The Gessel Hoard was found 10 km
south of Bremen along the NEL site,
recovered en bloc, and stabilized
with a plaster bandage.
Archaeologists Bernd Rasink, at left,
and Friedrich Wilhelm Wulf place the
block in an industrial CT scanner at
the University of Hannover for a 3D
scan which will show the contents of
the block in detail and help the con-
servator uncover the artifacts.
