FOUNDATIONS
In room G, the original palace foun-
dations have been uncovered. On
the bedrock rests a foundation of
rock masonry and, on top of that, a
rock-clad mud brick foundation, a
clever method to protect the mud
bricks from damp. Director of exca-
vations Heike Dohmann-Pfälzner
tries to interpret the more puzzling
aspects of the situation.
