OPENING THE TOMB
Under room DA, directors of excava-
tions Peter Pfälzner, at front, and
his wife Heike Dohmann-Pfälzner
remove debris from the entrance to
‘Tomb VII’ which has remained un-
disturbed for over 3350 years. Their
flashlights’ feeble glow allows only a
limited inspection of the tomb’s con-
tents: stone jars, pottery, gold and
bones of probably over 100 people.
