LEONARDO III
At the Doerner Institute in Munich,
Germany, Chemist Heike Stege and
restorer Jan Schmidt examine an
X-ray image of Leonardo da Vinci’s
‘Madonna with the Carnation’. In the
presence of the photographer, they
find a previously unknown finger-
print. The X-ray analysis and other
procedures performed on the only
Leonardo painting in Germany are
part of the international ‘Universal
Leonardo’ project.
