AKTUN HA CENOTE
Water lilies in Aktun Ha cenote –
aka Car Wash – near Tulum. Easily
accessible, the cenote used to be a
popular spot for cabbies to wash
their cars, hence the nickname.
From above, Car Wash appears as a
mere water lily pond. Below the sur-
face, however, two tunnels branch
off to form cave systems 1467 m,
respectively 1122 m long which
make it interesting for cave divers.
