THE BONE COLLECTORS
In a makeshift lab next to The Pit,
Martha Benavente – in back – and
her team of anthropologists of the
Instituto de Investigaciones Antro-
pológicas examine and index human
bones which were recovered by
divers from a site 42 m deep. The
bones, roughly 13,000 years old,
are placed in water bags for trans-
port to the institute. The matching
skull was retrieved the following day.
