GRUBENHAUS
In a field near Banzin an assembled
run of pipe is jacked up and ready
to be put underground while below
archaeologists excavate the remains
of a pit-house from the Migration
Period which sits astride the NEL
trail. Traces of three rows of post-
holes – two side walls flanking the
central row of posts supporting
the roof ridge – suggest a dwelling
of 23 by 11.5 ft.
