READY FOR SLAUGHTERING
Conservator Inga Vogel prepares
urn no. 301 from the urnfield of
Bobzin for examination at a make-
shift lab in Schwerin. Vogel flippantly
refers to opening and examining an
urn as ‘slaughtering’ it. Cling film
prevents the brittle clay vessel from
falling apart. The Bobzin urnfield
comprised
707 burials and was in
use
from around 500 BC to 100 AD.
